Troubled hands grip used syringes, waiting patiently to exchange their used needles for clean ones. These are heroin addicts, forgotten, and existing—sometimes barely—in a system that criminalizes the people who are working to help addicts change their lives. Stuck In the Bluff, a multi-award winning documentary produced by WABE reporter Jim Burress, tells their story.
As an NPR/Kaiser Health News partner, I regularly contributed reports on health and health care policy, both on-air and online, at the national level.

Much of my reporting chronicles Atlanta’s HIV/AIDS crisis, coverage that’s won regional and national investigative awards.
